The Calusas Nation currently consists of 7 tribes, each of which is approximately 7-10 familes. Most tribes are based on a geographic area, to facilitate tribe meetings and prevent excessive travel. However, this is not a hard & fast rule.

Although the program's name has been changed from "YMCA Indian Guides" to the "YMCA Adventure Guides", many nations (including the Calusas Nation and our neighbors, the Canaveral Nation) still honor the Native American history and culture by respectfully naming each of our memeber tribes after an existing Native American tribe.
